Description
A refreshing turmeric iced latte rich with warming spices and health-supportive ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 cups (480–720 ml) milk of choice (whole, almond, oat, or other preferred variety)
- 3 tablespoons (45 ml) maple syrup
- 1 ½ teaspoons (4.5 g) ground turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon (0.5 g) ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon (0.5 g) ground ginger
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 1 pinch ground cardamom (optional but recommended)
- ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) vanilla extract
- Ice, as needed for chilling and serving
Instructions
- Step 1: Add all the ingredients except ice into the cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to thoroughly blend the spices, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla. Proper shaking ensures the spices are evenly distributed, giving every sip full flavor and consistent texture.
- Step 2: Add ice to the shaker to chill the mixture rapidly and help blend the ingredients effectively. The ice lowers the temperature quickly without diluting the flavor if not melted significantly. Shake again briefly with ice present to ensure thorough chilling.
- Step 3: Strain the well-shaken turmeric latte mixture from the shaker into serving glasses filled with fresh ice. Straining removes any spice clumps and ensures a smooth texture in the final drink.
- Step 4: Serve the turmeric iced latte right away to keep the spices suspended evenly. Drinking immediately prevents the spices from settling at the bottom, maintaining balanced flavor and appearance.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 day. Shake well before serving to redistribute any spices that settled.
- Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Stir gently before pouring over fresh ice to recombine spices and milk.
- Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating or serving chilled.
- If the latte separates after serving, stir gently before enjoying, especially if it has sat for more than 5 minutes.
- Adjust sweetness by adding an extra tablespoon of maple syrup if needed after initially adding 3 tablespoons. Taste and add more if required for preferred sweetness.
- If spices form clumps, shake the mixture vigorously for 15 seconds before pouring over ice to break up clumps and evenly disperse flavors.
- For a creamier texture, use 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk or milk alternative instead of 2-3 cups. This yields a milder flavor with richer mouthfeel.
- Pre-mix all ingredients and store in the fridge up to 24 hours for convenience, but add ice just before serving.
- Pair with a slice of gluten-free banana bread or fresh fruit salad.
- Serve alongside spicy roasted chickpeas or a fresh green salad for a light meal combination.
- Use the latte mixture as a base for turmeric smoothies, overnight oats, or chia pudding.
- Top drinks with an extra dash of cinnamon or vanilla extract. Optionally drizzle with maple syrup or add coconut whipped cream for a richer touch.
