Description
An easy-to-make finger food combining toasted mini butter croissants with smoked turkey, creamy Havarti, and a secret tangy sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 mini butter croissants, high-quality, flaky, golden brown
- 18 slices smoked turkey breast
- 3 slices Havarti cheese
- Romaine lettuce, enough for crisp texture and freshness
- ⅓ cup (5.33 tbsp / 79 ml) mayonnaise
- 4 tbsp (60 ml) sour cream
- 3 tbsp (45 ml) Dijon mustard
- Pinch black pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: In a bowl, whisk together ⅓ cup mayonnaise, 4 tbsp sour cream, 3 tbsp Dijon mustard, and a pinch of black pepper until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

- Step 2: Cut each mini butter croissant in half horizontally. Place croissant halves in a pan over low heat and toast for a few minutes until they are lightly golden and warm. Aim for a toasted croissant that maintains its flaky texture without becoming soggy. Alternatively, for quick toasting, place sliced croissants on a baking sheet under the oven broiler for 2-3 minutes—watch closely to prevent burning.

- Step 3: Spread a generous layer (approximately 2 tablespoons) of the secret sauce on one half of each croissant. Layer 3 slices of smoked turkey breast on top of the sauce, followed by half a slice of Havarti cheese, then add romaine lettuce for crispness and freshness. Be careful not to overfill; even layering helps maintain sandwich stability and texture. Top with the other croissant half.

- Step 4: If making sandwiches ahead, store croissant halves in an airtight container separately and assemble just before serving to prevent sogginess and keep the flaky texture intact.

Notes
- Room Temperature: Store assembled croissant party sandwiches in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days to keep texture and freshness.
- Refrigeration: Keep sandwiches in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days to maintain flavor and reduce sogginess.
- Freezing: Wrap each sandwich individually in plastic wrap, place in a freezer bag, and freeze for up to 1 month. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
- If croissants become too soggy, re-toast them in the oven for 2-3 minutes on low heat before assembly to restore crispness.
- Spread exactly 2 tablespoons of secret sauce on each croissant half for even flavor distribution and moisture balance.
- To prevent fillings from sliding out, layer 3 slices of turkey and half a slice of cheese, which helps hold ingredients together.
- Cover sandwiches with a light kitchen towel for up to 10 minutes after toasting to avoid the crust hardening as they cool.
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of chopped pickles or crispy bacon to sandwiches before serving for extra crunch and flavor contrast.
